what is the diagnosis?

Unread post by einas »

I found this case in the web site named medical osce ,the case is quite obvious but really what draw my attention is how can some diseases affects our life and may even make it very hard to look in a mirror

A 68-year-old woman requested medical attention for a sudden increase in hair growth that she had noticed 11 months earlier. She had lost more than 30 kg during this same period. Physical examination revealed fine lanugo hair all over her face and body and a deeply furrowed tongue, which caused a burning sensation What is the most likely diagnosis?

Cushing’s syndrome
Prophyria cutanea tarda
Paraneoplastic disorder
Acromegaly
Polycystic ovarian syndrome

Acquired hypertrichosis lanuginosa is consists of abnormal and excessive growth of fine lanugo hair. The disorder is usually linked to an internal malignant condition, especially colorectal cancer, and it may regress with removal of the tumor.
